Since opening the Stables in November 2004 we have made it our aim to share with you the meat from farms within Yorkshire.
5 Years on we are still doing this and much more, our list of local suppliers is evolving almost on a daily basis.
The local producers that provide us the pick of the crop, the leanest cuts and the catch of the day are proud of what they produce and we’re proud of them too.
In fact we like to name the farmers on our blackboard so that the customer can see exactly where their meat has come from.
As farmers in Britain have the best Farm Assurance scheme and animal welfare of anywhere in the world, all our beef steaks have been matured on the bone for 21 days plus as we strive towards flavour and tenderness.
All of our Poultry is grain fed and born and reared in Yorkshire Wolds and our game is shot by local guns on the surrounding Whitby estates. Even our milk is from Yorkshire and is delivered by a local milkman.
We are honoured to have received ‘Restaurant of the Year’ and ‘Taste of Yorkshire’ in Whitby Hospitality Association 2009 awards. We were also a finalist in the Moors and Coast Tourism Awards 2009 ‘Restaurant of the Year’
